Artist Statement:
I find beauty in complex textures created through repetition, variation, and layering. Through compositions of seemingly simple marks and gestures, I aim to create moments and environments, meant to be explored, examined, and discovered anew. My work is nonrepresentational yet draws inspiration from all scales of the natural word; from the molecular to the cosmic.
Artist Bio:
Brent Westphal (1989) was born and raised in Urbandale, Iowa. He received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Iowa State University in 2012. Upon graduation, Brent began practicing architecture in Iowa City, Iowa. Brent currently lives and practices architecture in Kansas City, Missouri. Creating art has been a lifelong passion for Brent, and he continues to create art in addition to his full-time architectural career.
