Leo E. Osborne: Expecting to Fly with Unique Cedar Pedestal (68x20x20)
Stafford Gallery is pleased to represent Leo E. Osborne, one of the top wildlife artists nationally and internationally for the past four decades.
"Expecting to Fly" is an interpretive bird carving that thoughtfully embraces the feminine form as well. Cast from an original wood burl carving, this bronze has a limited edition of 50.
This particular sculpture should be considered as a unique. For this one work in the edition, Leo located the perfect cedar log, hollowed it out and carved it to blend almost seamlessly into the bronze form of the sculpture. The pedestal flows organically from the bronze, with visual elements that resemble the drape and textures of a lace gown. This is a stunning, stand-alone work and deserves a place of honor in a collection.
