Leo E. Osborne: In Meditation and Contemplation 40x30
This stunning painting has many references. In some Northwest Native American stories, the raven started off as a white bird but then was punished for its clever and naughty ways and was turned black. The White Raven was also said to have put the sun, moon and stars in the sky. In this painting, there is a sense of the physical and metaphysical, The black raven sees its reflection and perhaps sees its higher, spiritual self. Additionally, on Vancouver Island, B.C., a colony of non-albino white ravens with blue eyes have been reproducing for over e decade, and in this painting you see the yin and yang of these mystical birds.
